I often have unassociated parts in my smt file and then need to select feeders for every single part.
It would be very nice to have an "update similar parts" function which takes a feeder selection of a part and copies that feeder to all parts with the same part name.

I know that this can be done by having the same partname in the boards and feeder, but that is often not the case in my boards.
Should be easy to do by just searching the list for parts with the same name and assign the feeder to them.

I think you can do this from the parts database, if all the parts have the same part type description. Maybe this is what you meant, but if not have a look at the parts database. Using it is slightly tricky, and requires some trial and error to figure out which parameters are going to be updated, but it works well at doing what you wish as long as you have the part descriptions set to the same thing such as "0603R"

I used this feature to setup pickup height on all similar parts.

I know the database. The problem is: I optimize a part until it places perfectly. I then have that part on that feeder optimized, but there is no way to copy the settings to a database part so all other similar parts get updated to these new settings.

So I have to write down the settings, open the database part, enter the settings and update the other similar parts. Tedious.
